Mykonos Panoramic Tour (MYK - 06) Half Day

MYKONOS - Ano Mera We start of with a short drive to a vantage point overlooking the city where a panoramic view reveals the magic of Mykonos Town and the area around it. During the island tour you will see the beautiful beaches of Ag. Ioannis, Ornos, Agia Anna and Kalafatis before arriving at the village of Ano Mera. At Agios Ioannis and Kalafatis we do a short stop for photos.

Ano Mera is located in the heart of Mykonos. This is a traditional Greek village with its famous Monastery of Panagia Tourliani which houses a collection of icons and religious objects and a magnificent handmade “templo” which dates back to the end of the 18th century and came from Florence. After your visit the Monastery and have some free time in the picturesque square of this village, you will return to the main town of the island.

“Chora” is the island’s capital where you will enjoy a walking tour in the narrow cobbled streets of the town. Passing by chic boutiques, elegant nightclubs and white–washed houses you will eventually arrive at the area of “Kastro”, where the famous Paraportiani church is located.

Next to Paraportiani is the Folklore museum which was founded in 1958. This museum sets at the house of the Castle, which is considered the oldest building on the island, is built on a preserved part of the medieval castle of Mykonos. It is a two storey house which includes objects, costumes and furniture urban residences of the 19th and 20th centuries. Here you will also find important collections of textiles, Tamas (votive offerings) and jewelry. This museum and its exhibits give you a wonderful taste of culture, the history,the customs and folklore art of the island . After the visit of this museum you continue to Alefkandra and Windmills.

Alefkandra is a charming corner of Hora, known also as “Little Venice" of Mykonos. The houses are built on the sea, with wooden balconies above the sea. These were built from the mid. 18th century onward and were homes of wealthy merchants and captains. At the Windmills you will enjoy the beautiful view and have the chance for some magnificent photos.

Walking in the white washed narrow streets of Mykonos town is an unforgettable experience. Before the end of this tour, you will visit the Maritime museum. Its exhibits are not only a flashbackof the maritime history of Greece but also ship making in many corners of the world,from antiquity to the present, with emphasis on the local history of the island.
