ABOUT ME AND MY PROJECT

My name is Harry Tsoukalas. I was born on Corfu and spend 20 years of my life living there before making Sydney-Australia my home 17 years ago where I started my recycling business. I love old homes and buildings and admire the way Australians restore these places and the fact that heritage plays an important part in Federal, State and local governments but most important in people's minds. I have family living in Corfu and I was still drawn there for holidays. But I was so distressed with the neglect of our heritage and on my last visit 9
months ago I decided to stay and try to do something about it.

I had already rebuild my stone farm houses in Corfu for friends and family use few years back.

So, now I am offering an innovative holiday in the farm which is the only one of its kind in Corfu.

The holiday packages include standard traditional farmhouse accommodation and the all inclusive package with breakfast and dinner, guided tours, excursions, dining out and entertainment.

Come with me and let me take you on a tour of Corfu with a history and tradition dating back more than 5,000 years. Let me introduce you to my relatives and friends, my farm, the history, the
villages, the sporting activities, the restaurants and tavernas, the beaches and sightseeing.
Let me show you the local traditions that have remain the same since the Homeric times and are now fading away. Let me show you how filoxenia ( Filo = love. xenia = foreign visitor ), is
still part of our culture following in the footsteps of our fathers and our king Alcinoos and his legendary filoxenia to Odysseus, despite knowing that his Grandfather, god of the sea Posidon, will seek revenge.

Maybe you will come and visit and even buy yourself an old stone house from as little as 3.000.000 dr., which you can restore and use for your future holidays. But most importantly knowing that you also helped in the preservation of our ancient heritage.

BOOK YOUR HOLIDAY TODAY

My farm houses had been home to five generations of my family before they were deserted thirty-five years ago. They are now rebuild and set up us an example to promote to the locals the
benefits of cultural tourism and to show the visitors another side of corfu with it's 5.000 year old history and traditions other than the sun drenched beaches.

The purpose is to stop the overdevelopment of the beach surroundings and the return to the deserted villages and homes and their use as accomodation for our quests.

The main building is a two storey stone house with all necessary facilities for comfortable living.

It still boosts many of it's original features including it's own horse drawn olive press. This olive press is a fine example of the type that was used in the same way in ancient Greece. The olive press and other old and original tools and furnishings are displayed for the visitors to see.

There are two outbuildings also at the farm made from local stone and they have two bedrooms each.

They are all hidden in the beauty of olive and orange groves, natural gardens with many native flowers and bushes and a vegetable garden which supplies fresh vegetables. There are also domestic animals and poultry (rabbits, goats, ducks, etc.).

You will appreciate the peace and quiet of the place and enjoy all the benefits of being within 1.5 kms from Arillas beach.

The local swimming pool is 5 minutes stroll trough the olive grove and there you can enjoy a large pool with a bar and a traditional tavern. Other shops are also near by.

For those who want to enjoy their night out there is an option to dine at one of the following traditional tavernas:
Taverna Kokkinos: a traditional taverna specializing in delicious local dishes and roasted meats. Situated in the village of Kavadades it is a popular meeting place for the locals and is the only tavern open during the winter months in the area.

Zorbas Ancient Greek Cousin: The only restaurant offering ancient Greek food in Corfu. The recipes have been hunted down by Ina and Giorgos and it's an experience that you can not miss.

Taverna Fillipo's : Just 5 min from the farm. The food is excellent, the entertainment is fantastic and the professional Greek dancers make the night an unforgettable experience. You will be asked to join in the fun and try Syrtaki, Zeimpekiko and Zorba dancing.

Dionysos Taverna: While the food is going to impress your taste buds like the other three, the spectacular position with it's great view over St.George beach will certainly make it even better.
