ATHENS CITY TOUR

The
tour departs at 8:30am. Before reaching the
Acropolis (visit), the bus passes by most major sights, monuments and
museums in Athens including the Museum of Cycladic Art, the Byzantine Museum,
the National Gallery, Zappion Garden, Temple of Zeus, Adrian's Arch, St. Paul’s
Church, the Parliament with the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Catholic Cathedral,
the University, the National Library and many other. Also visits to the
Panathinaikon Stadium, where the first contemporary Olympic Games took place in
1896, and the Temple of Olympian Zeus are included.
ACROPOLIS MUSEUM
(daily except from Monday)
- Don’t waste time waiting in queues, take an Acropolis museum prioritized
guided tour. After your guided tour, you can stay on if you want to and continue
exploring the Acropolis museum at your Leisure. The new Acropolis museum is
considered one of the most important archaeological museums in Athens and ranks
among the most important museums of the world. For the first time ever all the
surviving treasures of the Acropolis will be seen together in one place. The
Acropolis museum main attractions such as votives, artifacts of every day life,
statues from archaic period, Caryatids, and of course the Parthenon hall with
the metopes, the pediments and the frieze will impress you. Another major
exhibit is the remains of the ancient Athenian city that revealed by
archaeological excavations on the site of the museum. Note that you’ll meet your
guide at Dionysiou Areopagitou Street (main entrance), just a two minutes walk
from the Acropolis Metro station.

The

This
tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens
such a fascinating city. Our expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic
Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short
stop). Continue and pass by the Presidential residence (ex Royal Palace) guarded
by the Euzones in their colorful uniform, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the
Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the
Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma).
On the Acropolis visit the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of
Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally
"the harmony between material and spirit", the monument that "puts order in the
mind", the Parthenon.
DORA STRATOU DANCES THEATRE
(Wednesday-Sunday, May 24-September 18)
- We are very proud to feature the "Dora Stratou" ensemble in our offered
services. This living museum of Greek dance was inaugurated in 1953 and offers a
unique and totally original experience. Housed in its own open-air 800-seat
theatre on Filopappou Hill, the ensemble has 75 dancers, musicians and folk
singers and a collection of more that 2500 village-made costumes, pieces of
jewellery and other works of folk art, 1000 of which are actually worn on stage
each season. The institution conducts extensive field search programs in dance
ethnography, dance history and sociology, is in close cooperation with the
International Dance Council and the International Organization of Folk Art (both
Unesco NGOs) and maintains an archive of dance books, articles, field
recordings, photographs and films of more than 60 years. Each performance
presents dances from different parts of Greece and all serve as proof of the
continuity of an ancient tradition. The theater can be accessed by bus (number
230), trolley bus (number 15) or by taxi. If you stay close to the Acropolis,
you can also walk (slightly uphill, 10-15 minutes from the Acropolis). We can
also arrange for a private transfer (upon request, depends on number of
participants). A truly authentic experience, which we strongly recommend!
ATHENS BY NIGHT
(Apr.-Oct.: daily Nov.-Mar.: Tuesday, Thursday,
Saturday)
- The tour begins at 8:30 pm with a visit to Piraeus (the main port of
Greece), Marina Zeas (one of the busiest yacht harbours) and Microlimano (a
smaller, picturesque yacht and fishing boat harbour). Afterwards, the party
returns to Athens, and proceeds to a popular Greek Taverna in Plaka for dinner
with live bouzouki music and a Greek floor show.
A NIGHT OUT IN ATHENS
(Apr.-Oct.: daily Nov.-Mar.: Tuesday, Saturday)
- Your evening begins with a short panoramic drive through the City Center and
at the slope of the sacred hill you will be able to see, admire and photo the
illuminated Acropolis. Next you will visit the Museum and discover the divine
origin of Ancient Greek musical instruments and enjoy travelling in the hidden
paradise of Ancient Greek music history and sounds. Explore the greatest and
only collection around the Universe, of more than 60 reconstructed Ancient Greek
musical instruments. Then a pleasant walk through the narrow picturesque streets
of Plaka, the old city, will bring you at a Typical Greek Tavern where you will
enjoy your dinner following a floor show with live music and Greek Folk Dances
in traditional costumes.
CAPE SOUNION
(Daily)
- Depart at 2:30 pm for a wonderful drive along the scenic coastal road which
affords a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf, passing through some of Athens most
beautiful suburbs (Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza) to
Cape Sounion where you will visit the 5th
century B.C. Temple of Poseidon with one of the most breathtaking panoramic
views in the world (on a clear day you can see at least seven islands). The
precipice is a sheer 197 foot drop to the sea.
ANCIENT CORINTH
(Apr.-Oct.: Monday and Friday)

Driving
along the scenic west coast of Attica, after a short stop at the Corinth Canal
with its breathtaking views, the tour reaches the ancient town of
Corinth (visit), where St. Paul lived and
preached for two years. Back in the ancient times, Corinth was amongst the
richest cities and this is quite evident by its remains, including the huge
Agora and Apollo’s Temple (6th c. BC). Brief stop at the site of the ancient
port of Kechreae where St. Paul disembarked. Return to Athens in time for lunch.
Ancient Corinth & wine tasting
(Apr.-Oct.: Friday)
- Nowadays, Greek wine production, abiding by tradition but invigorated by
modem technology, offers a wide variety of fine wines. Leaving Athens at 8:30am,
driving along the coastal road, we reach Corinth canal (short stop). Drive to
the Ancient Corinth where St. Paul lived and preached. Ancient Corinth was one
of the most important cities of ancient Greece. Visit the Agora and one of the
most outstanding monuments of pre–Roman period, the temple of Apollo. Then, we
will continue to visit one of the most famous vineries of Nemea. We will learn
everything for the production of Greek quality red wine and then we will proceed
to the underground cellars with more than 1000 French oak barriques. Finally we
will taste some of the best wines of the domain.
ONE DAY CRUISE TO SARONIC GULF ISLANDS: AEGINA,
HYDRA, POROS

cruise boat stops at three islands of the Saronic Gulf: Aegina, which is famous
for its peanuts and the beautiful temple of Athina Afaia (optional tour); Hydra,
the beloved island of all painters, with its beautiful houses, all in pastel
colours, perched up on the rocks, and its long history - it played a leading
role during the War of Independence; Poros, a pretty little island that has also
contributed a lot in the liberation.

ONE DAY ARGOLIS: MYCENAE & EPIDAURUS

- The tour places emphasis on two sites:
Mycenae, the kingdom of the doomed family of the Atreides, and
Epidaurus, featuring its astonishing
theatre with 15.000 seats, the acoustics of which no modern theatre has managed
to replicate. On the way, a short stop is made at the Corinthian Canal; the
lunch break takes place in Nauplion, one of the most charming towns in the
Peloponnese, which is gradually being restored to its past glory.
ONE DAY DELPHI
(Apr.-Oct.: daily Nov.-Mar.: Monday, Wednesday,
Friday, Sunday)
- The tour includes a detailed visit of the site, the museum and the Oracle of
Apollo in Delphi, the centre of the world in
antiquity. On the way to Delphi, the bus makes a short stop at Livadia, a small
town. On the way back another stop is made in the village of Arachova, a very
pretty village on the slopes of the mountain.
TWO DAY ARGOLIS: MYCENAE & EPIDAURUS

Participants
in this tour will have an afternoon and a morning free in order to see more of
the picturesque town of Nauplion (Nafplion) which the Venetians called “Naples
of Greece”.
- Day 1: The bus takes the new highway to
Corinth. After a short stop at the Corinth Canal, the bus proceeds to
Mycenae, where an extensive visit of the site
and museum is scheduled. The bus reaches the first capital of liberated Greece,
Nafplion, on time for lunch. The afternoon is free
- Day 2: You have the morning to explore the beautiful town with the many
monuments, including the Palamidi Castle, the Ancient Gate of the town, the
small museum and the beautifully preserved buildings. After lunch you will visit
Epidaurus, the world famous theatre with
the outstanding acoustics. In the afternoon the bus brings you back to
Athens.
TWO DAY DELPHI
(Apr.-Oct.: daily)
- Day 1: Leave Athens at 8:30AM, via the National highway, passing Thebes,
Livadia (short stop), Arachova. The tour continues with a detailed visit of the

- Day 1: Depart at 08:15. Transfer to renowned
Delphi. Visit at the archaeological site the temple of Apollo famous for its
oracle and the museum of Delphi (optional). Depart for Kalambaka, passing
through picturesque villages and towns of Central Greece. Dinner and overnight.
- Day 2: Visit Meteora and enjoy a unique
and most impressive scenery with ageless Monasteries, containing priceless
historical and religious treasures, standing between Earth and Sky atop huge
rocks. Return to Athens (approx. 18:30) via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae (visit
the Leonida’s Monument) and Kammena Vourla.

through central Peloponnese area passing the cities of Megalopolis and Tripolis.

- Day 2: In the morning visit of the archaeological site of
Olympia with the Sanctuary of Olympion Zeus.
Departure from Olympia via Patras to Rion, cross the Corinthian bay on the new
bridge to Antirion. Drive through Nafpaktos, via the scenic new road along the
coast, to Delphi. Dinner and overnight in Delphi.
- Day 3: In the morning visit of the archaeological site and the museum of
Delphi. Return to Athens via Arachova, Levadia
and Thebes.
THREE DAY METEORA MONASTERIES & VERGINA TOUR
(every Tuesday from May 8th to October 9th EXCEPT August)
- Day 1: Depart at 8:45am following the national highway to the north and
before the town of Larisa and via the town of Trikala we arrive at Kalambaka a
small town situated at the foot of the astonishing complex of Meteora gigantic
rocks. Early afternoon visit Meteora. Among striking scenery perched on top of
huge rocks which seem to be suspended in mid air, stand ageless monasteries
where you can see exquisite specimen of Byzantine art. Later on in a traditional
Greek restaurant you will take part of a Greek cooking lesson and enjoy it as
your dinner tonight, with the help of good local house wine included in the
meal. Overnight.
- Day 2: Depart from Kalambaka and drive to Vergina to live the experience of
a visit to the unique museum, creates in the great tumulus covering the royal
tombs of Macedonia. See the astonishing findings from the tomb of King Phillip
II, Alexander’s father, and feel the thrill of the greatest discovery of the
20th century. Drive on and again via Trikala meet the National highway and
arrive at your hotel at the seaside resort of Leptokarya. Enjoy the wonderful
beach and all hotel’s facilities created for your comfort and amusement. Dinner
& overnight.
- Day 3: After Breakfast continue your relaxation and sun bathing, and just
before noon we shall start driving south towards Athens. A couple of hours
before reaching Athens we will make a visit in one of the most famous Greek
wineries, the “Hatzimichalis” winery. Visit the vineyards, learn everything
about the course of the wine production and as a highlight visit the underground
cellars with 2.500 French oak barriques. A wine tasting of two different wines
will follow to complete a memorable visit. We will then continue driving until
we arrive in Athens.
FOUR DAY CLASSICAL TOUR

Drive to Epidaurus (visit of the
archaeological site and the Theatre of Epidaurus, famous for its acoustics) and
then on to Nafplion, where you have the afternoon free to explore this charming
old town or visit the new gallery with paintings dedicated to the Greek
revolution. Dinner and overnight in Nauplion.
- Day 2: Departure around 12:30 to visit
Mycenae, the kingdom of the Atrides family, where you will see among other
things the vaulted tomb of Agamemnon. Then we will proceed to Olympia, driving
through Tripolis and Megalopolis (short stop). Dinner and overnight in Olympia.
- Day 3: In the morning of the archaeological site of
Olympia, including the Temple of Zeus, the
Temple of Hera, the altar of the Olympic flame, the Stadium and the renovated
museum. Departure from Olympia via Patras (short stop) to Rion, cross the
Corinthian bay over the new bridge to Antirion. Drive by Nafpaktos, along the
coastal road to Delphi. In the afternoon,
visit the picturesque but also quite cosmopolitan village of Arahova. Dinner and
overnight in Delphi.
- Day 4: In the morning visit of the archaeological site and museum in Delphi,
and in the early afternoon drive back to Athens.
