Apokreas (pronounced ah-PO-kree-ahs) is one of my favorite times to be in Greece. It is certainly one of the most colorful and festive times to be in Greece but it also is the holiday that lets you know that the winter will soon be over and spring is on its way. This site was made after my trip to Athens in February of 2006 during the last days of Apokreas, and the beginning of lent. Though it is not a time when many tourists are in Greece, it is certainly a great time to be there and the only problem is returning to your former life once you have returned from 2 weeks of eating, drinking, meeting people and of course, visiting the archaeological sites which are the most beautiful in the winter and early spring. This is the story of my trip in words and pictures.
