Should You Buy Travel Insurance?

With the state of the airlines and not to mention the world more people are buying travel insurance

Would I buy travel insurance? No. But I am the kind of person who thinks that nothing is going to go wrong ever, and then I have to deal with it when it does. The only reason I have health insurance is because I have a daughter and to take myself off would not save me that much. The only reason I have car insurance is because liability is required by law and I have a nice car (Honda Accord in case you are interested) and I don't feel like buying a new one if I crash it.

But should you buy travel insurance if you are taking a trip to Greece? Why not? It is cheap enough and there are a number of things that can go wrong that travel insurance will make a lot less painful.

Besides covering flight cancellations at a time when airlines are more unstable than ever (not that they will crash but they may go out of business) travel insurance also covers trip cancellation due to:

*Sickness Injury or Death*
*Weather conditions*
*Termination of Employment*
*Acts of Terrorism*
*Trip Cancellation & Interruption*
*Travel Delay*
*Baggage Protection*
*Medical Protection*
*24-Hour Emergency Hotline and Assistance*

As you can see there are some things listed that you would not consider a disaster but could still cost you money.

Anyway if you are the type who believes strongly in insurance and are afraid that things will go wrong then Travel Insurance will probably make you feel more at ease about traveling and with the cost at about 5% of the cost of your trip that seems like a low price for peace of mind. If you follow the instructions below you can decide for yourself. Like anything you buy, read it carefully and don't be afraid to contact the company if you have a question. (Don't ask me because I don't know about travel insurance because I would never get it)
