5 Day Tour of Northern Greece & Macedonia

Visiting Delphi, "navel of the Earth"; the monasteries of Meteora; Dion, at the foot of Mount Olympus;
Thessaloniki museum & city tour; Pella, capital of Alexander the Great's Macedonian kingdom then
the tomb of the King Phillip and the famous "Vergina Treasures"

DAY 1

The archeological site of Delphi Your guided tour begins with you being picked up from your hotel in the morning, you'll then be driven to Delphi, passing through Levadia and the picturesque village of Arachova. Upon arrival visit the museum and the archaeological site "the Navel of the Earth" with all its renowned ruins of the "Temple of Apollo" and the Athenian Treasury. Rest of the day at leisure.

Dinner and overnight in Delphi.

DAY 2

Meteora from above In the morning, drive by the central Greece towns of Amphissa, Lamia and Trikala to Kalambaka. Then visit the breathtaking Meteora with its awe inspiring Byzantine Monasteries which have been constructed on top of huge rocks, and appear to be suspended in mid-air.

Dinner and overnight stay in Kalambaka.

DAY 3

The archeological site of Dion in Macedonia, Greece Drive by Larissa to the famous, sacred Macedonian town of Dion, lying at the foot of Mount Olympus. Visit the network of ancient ruined streets, public buildings, shops, workshops, statues, houses, an orchestra and a large theatre. Then continue to Thessaloniki, the largest town in Northern Greece. Visit the most interesting museum of Thessaloniki with a sightseeing trip of the city.

Dinner and stay overnight.

DAY 4

The archeological site of Pella in Macedonia, Greece In the morning, you'll drive to and visit Pella, which at the end of 5th century B.C was the capital of Alexander the Great's Macedonian kingdom. You'll then continue to Vergina to visit the tomb of the King Phillip (father of Alexander the Great) and the famous "Vergina Treasures". Then on to Lefkadia where you'll visit the excavations. Return to Thessaloniki via Veria.

Dinner and stay overnight.

DAY 5

Monument of Leonidas and his troops at Thermopylae Start the return drive to Athens through the Tempi Valley, Larisa, Lamia, and visit Thermopylae and the Leonida Monument, famous for the ancient battle that took place there, and finally Kamena Vourla before arriving in Athens at 19:00.
