Sea Kayaking the Ionian Islands 2

Accessible only by private boat (no ferries), we tour sparsely populated isles. Visit sleepy villages, kayak around windmill ruins, discover isolated bays, spectacular sea caves and quiet beaches ideal for camping. At Kalamo’s small port, we paddle right up to our taverna table, order Greek coffee & fuel up on freshly prepared Greek food.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: VASSILIKI - AGIOFILI - SIVOTA -distance 9Nm

Arrive at our base in Vassiliki Lefkas before 9am to meet your guide. Check your kayaking equipment, run through basic kayak instruction and pack your gear for the trip. Excess luggage is safely stored at our base. Full briefing takes 40 minutes. Visit Agiofili beach and Ammousa bay. Camp at the isolated beach of Cyclope. You can have a romantic dinner on the beach or you can trek for 30 minutes to the traditional fishing village of Sivota for dinner.

DAY 2: SIVOTA – SCORPIOS-  MEGANISI -distance 10 Nm

Today we do a day trip to the island of Scorpios- owned by notorious Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onasis. Kayak past Jackie O’s chic beach hut right by the water's edge. Swim and picnic at the only beach open to the public. Visit the bat cave. Our final destination is the beach of Agios Ioannis for an overnight stay. Dinner at local taverna  on the beach.

DAY 3: MEGANISI, POROS, SIVOTA -distance 9Nm

Cross channel to Lefkada Island and follow the coast line until the you arrive at Poros village for a quick stop for lunch and snorkeling. Arrive in Sivota bay. End of trip. 35km ( 6 hrs)

Accommodation in local guest houses
Emergency rescue: €120-200, depending on distance and time of rescue
Does not include meals or provisions. All meals are self catered. Restaurant meals are ‘pay as you go’ or paddlers contribute to provisions for self catered meals and snacks
